The UK’s Times Higher Education Supplement (THES) World
University Rankings, published in November 2007, ranked
the University as 31st in the world. In the Newsweek
global poll for 2006, the University of Sydney was one
of two Australian universities placed in the top 50 in
the world. It is a member of the prestigious Group of
Eight key Australian teaching and research universities,
and is consistently ranked amongst the top universities
in Australia and the Asia Pacific. It offers the widest
range of courses and subjects of any Australian
university. More than 45,000 students, including over
8,500 international students from more than 100

The
University
of Sydney’s library network comprises 20 separate
facilities and holds over 5 million items in total. There
are specialist libraries in medicine, engineering, law,
architecture and many other fields. Each section of the
library has support staff whose job it is to help you find
the resources you need.
Hundreds of clubs and societies, cafés, bars, bands,
theatre, sports and a social life you’ll never tire of.
With a sports association and three sporting complexes
(including an indoor heated swimming pool and
rock-climbing wall) you can be sure that, no matter what
