WHY
CHOOSE THE UNIVERSITY OF ADELAIDE |
|
|
Established: 1874.
Student population:
20 000.
International students: 5
000.
Location:
Adelaide, South Australia
The University of Adelaide is Australia’s third-oldest
university, and is ranked in the top 100 universities by
the Times Higher Education Supplement in 2007 and in the
top 25 universities in the Asia Pacific by the Shanghai
Jiao Tong University Academic Ranking of World
Universities in 2006. It is associated with five Nobel
Prize winners and over 100 Rhodes scholars, and is a
member of the Group of Eight,
Australia’s
leading research-intensive universities.
With 20 000 students (5000 are international students,
from over 90 countries) and over 2400 staff, the
University is small enough to provide personal
interaction with teaching staff, yet large enough to
offer a broad range of courses and student support
services, and has one of the best student ‑ staff ratios
in Australia. The institution has also received
numerous learning and teaching awards in recent years in
recognition of the quality of its academic staff.
Adelaide is a friendly, safe city with a population of
1.2 million people with a relaxed lifestyle and a cost
of living which is significantly lower than that of
bigger Australian cities. South Australia also offers
international students a concession card for public
transport. The city is within easy reach of some of
Australia’s most spectacular coastal scenery and
world-renowned wineries, and is a few hours from outback
Australia. |
